Graduate Engineer and Project Manager

Graduate Engineer and Project Manager, Surrey. £20,000 Basic Salary + bonuses + mileage allowance + expenses. This is a graduate engineering role within a manufacturer of 'green' lighting products, which help companies reduce their energy wastage, energy costs and carbon footprint whilst increasing their profitability. The role is ideal for a Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Building Services graduate looking for a career move with a groundbreaking energy-saving products manufacturer. This dynamic organisation is experiencing significant and rapid growth and enjoys an entrepreneurial culture backed by directors and investors who are highly renowned in emerging LED based technologies.

The role requires a self-motivated individual that is a 'sponge' for information and has a desire to learn and grow. As such the role requires good alpha-numeric skills, IT competency, the ability to 'think outside the box' and above all dedication, hard work and self-discipline. Reporting directly into the Chief Executive, himself a Chartered Engineer, the role requires an individual with brilliant communication skills together with drive, a reasonably high IQ and a good understanding of maths, physics and the skill to convey complex issues with simplicity, both orally and in writing.

This is a varied, challenging and unusual role as you will be responsible for a wide range of responsibilities, including pre-sales and sales support, project management and co-ordination, risk assessment and the management of third party contractors and installers. Working closely with installation teams and sub contractors the role will include drawing up specifications, writing and proposing project time scales, technical authoring, resolving trial and product issues and co-ordinating feedback. Together with members of the management team you will also chair progress meetings with suppliers and internal departments to manage the logistics of the work stream.
To apply you will be CAD proficient and ideally have a solid understanding of Microsoft Project or similar Project Management software. As this is a graduate role, you are not expected to have previous experience. However, you are expected to have a theoretical understanding of things such as: project planning schedules, Risk Assessment, writing method statements, writing instructions and instruction manuals, working within quality control frameworks, acting as a commissioning engineer, technical drawings, etc.

As this has the potential to grow into a key position within the business, you will be a rounded character looking for a long-term career role.

To apply you will also be a driver, and the benefits include a mileage based car allowance paid at the rate of 45p per mile for the first 10,000 miles and 25p per mile. In addition, a laptop, blackberry, and other sundries are provided.
