Sales recruitment hopefuls boosted by advice

People looking for sales jobs without having a large amount of qualifications on their CV have been boosted by advice given to graduate recruitment experts.

Carl Gilleard, chief executive of the Association of Graduate Recruiters, said that employers should open up their screening process, instead of just looking at people with a 2:1 degree or better.

"The difficulty is this particular criterion is flawed and you will be missing out on some very good talent by using an arbitrary degree classification cut-off point. I would call on employers to start looking at this now," he added.

For employers it's important that when they are going to invest many thousands of pounds in graduates that they recruit the ones that have the potential to develop and are likely to stay the course, Mr Gilleard advised.

Earlier this year, the association revealed that graduate salaries will remain frozen at £25,000 for the second year running as businesses look to recover from the effects of the recession.
